Variations on a Theme

  • Principle
Artabus defines every month a new theme. Artabus' artists have the full month to create one to three artworks being their interpretation of that theme.
The theme is chosen so that all artists can work on it, either painters, sculptors, photographs... Themes are not chosen for the simplicity but for the degree of involvement in their interpretation.
Visitors can leave a message on the resulting works using the guestbook of the artist.
A debate takes place through Artabus's forum, available through the artist's private member area, so that the results can be challenged by the artists' community.

    Turbulence

    Artworks

    TourBuLance

    Luc Pottiez TourBuLance
    Artist's statement:
The downpours of hail and the storms with thunder often generate abrupt gusts changing gear and direction unceasingly. In the same way, in the areas where the surface of the ground is very broken, like behind the obstacles, a building for example, turbulence is often important, the very irregular and swirling air flow being here.

    Turbulences

    Stéphane Losse Turbulences
    Artist's statement:
Turbulence !!! It makes me remember the summer's evenings when it was stormy. The light and the colours at this moment are intenses. It's like if we were in another world.

    Fulgence

    Redpancake Fulgence
    Artist's statement:
Each time I see the famous photography of mushroom cloud of Hiroshima, I am struck by the Silence which accompanies it.

    Turbulences natales

    Chloe Yzoard Turbulences natales
    Artist's statement:
All living beings start their lives with an agitated trip: their birth.
Beyond the biological aspect, with this painting, I have chosen not to give a poetic approach to the moment, although the birth of a human being surely is a moving, unique and beautiful instant.
To reflect this month topic “turbulences”, and on the basis of the metaphor of a plane, I aimed at underlining that this unique moment is a forced and dangerous trip, as much for the mother, the host, than for the child, the passenger. The warm colours with their realistic and tragic connotations contrast with the bright blue colour, symbol of hope for the hopefully joyful end for both actors.

    Passage difficile

    Laurence Galand Passage difficile
    Artist's statement:
    Stupors and tremors of teenager.
