Masood Parvez son of a Pakistan Railway officer, was born in 1949 in the province of Sind. He received his early education in a Cadet school which prepared him for a career in the military. But he realized that his free spirited artistic temperament would not be suitable for the regimens of a military life. Sketching and painting portraits came naturally to Parvez, he had inherited a keen interest in the study of human faces from his father who was also an amateur portrait photographer. Parvez took his inherent interest in portraiture seriously and traveled to USA to explore and learn from the American art scene.
He acquired a Master of Fine Arts degree from The Maryland Institute College of Arts, Baltimore, MD, and gained the first 14 years of experience as a professional portrait artist in Washington DC, New York and Raleigh NC. He has also traveled to France and studied the European masterpieces at the Louvre and Versailles in Paris.
His portraits are included in private, corporate and government art collections such as The White House, US Department of Defense, University of N.Carolina, Pakistan Army and most recently, the Royal Families of the United Arab Emirates. A grand exhibition of his works titled ‘Faces of Leadership’ was held in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mobarak Al Nahyan, (UAE Minister of Education) in 2010.
Masood Parvez currently resides in Abu Dhabi, where his work is exclusively based on portraits of historic and contemporary leaders of the United Arab Emirates.
