Louis Armstrong and his orchestra were one of the first groups to bring Jazz into the forefront of American culture. Old School Jazz is my homage to King Oliver, who taught Armstrong Jazz, Kid Ory, Zutty Singleton, Red Callender, Charlie Beale and Barney Bigard. While listening to their early recordings I was immediately compelled to share what I felt and also to translate those feelings into a visual work of art that communicated the genius of these great pioneers. |
