Soumya Faqir

I was born in Kenitra, in the North of Morocco, and I was lucky to have
spent a part of my childhood in beautiful Agadir, which is in the South
of Morocco.
Since the very beginning of my life I have been drawing and painting
out of love and out of passion.

Like people around me, I started by drawing houses, trees and
everything which is linked with nature because as a child I wanted to
please my innocent imagination.
My interest in Art has taken roots
in Junior School thanks to Mr Essouni, a respectable teacher at Ouad
Adahab in Kenitra. He has encouraged me a lot to paint and he believed
in my artistic skills. That's why he still keeps my work in his
classroom in order to show them to other passionate pupils.
Over
the years, I have discovered abstract art. Not only has it answered a
certain need for my dreamy and idealistic personality but it has also
given me the right to express myself freely.
I have tried
different painting technics such as oil paint, watercolours, but I have
been naturally drawn to acrylic since it has given me more freedom and
more satisfaction.
What makes my painting particular is that you
can have opposite and tangible states of mind on only one canvas. In
fact, it takes approximately 4 months to create a painting, in that
period of creation my feelings can evolve.
