Desc. : Mount Tahat is of volcanic origin. It is located in the arid zone of central Sahara. Rising into a rock plateaux and it rises to 2 918 meters (others, to 3 003 meters). This is the highest peak in Algeria. The massif is populated by Tuareg. The city of Tamanghasset crossroads of central Sahara, lies southwest of the Hoggar. It was discovered in these mountains of rock paintings dating from the period between 8000 and 2000 BC. AD, representing scenes of livestock and hunting of animals that live exclusively in the southern Sahara, suggesting that climate change has occurred since then.
