Quick access : oil on canvas oil on cardboard pigments and collages on canvas | ![]() François Lateur, Belgian artist painter. Born in Congo (°Fataki, 1953), I was greatly impressed by the pristine Nature and the very affectionate people there. My father, an agrarian technician originating from the Belgian city of Bruges, is also a sculpturer and a painter. My mother, originating from Brussels, has a passion for enamels, pottery, poetry and music. At an early age, my parents initiated me to various art forms. When I was 16 years old, my father spent several months teaching me how to draw. Shortly afterwards, I started a series of art courses (drawing, carving, painting) at various Brussels academies. For many years I made a living as a furniture restorer (both at the Charlier Museum in Brussels and as an independent craftsman). These experiences allowed me to love all kinds of materials and to embrace life itself. My painting approaches abstract lyricism. I use different techniques such as : aquarelle, pastel, acrylic paint and oils. Every now and then I use materials such as paper, textiles, treebark. |
