I became a full-time artist in 2010. I enjoy various modes of expression: drawing and painting, ceramics, fiber, printmaking, sculpture. I also enjoy trying out different styles as well as combinations.
As a child, I admired Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Durer...and I still do. I am enamored of Northern Renaissance masters, School of Fontainebleau, Pre-Raphaelites, New Objectivity, and Surrealism. I am also inspired by the tradition of illuminated manuscripts and Russian icons.
My early work critically and theoretically took up adult fantasies of childhood. Sometimes, I used miniature as a performative device to invite then frustrate intimacy. I am also interested in using miniature to expose the uncanny. Recently, I am exploring narrative images. And especially in draftsmanship, I am seeking the perfect line or mark.
