Name and Surname: Joseph Toufic El-Jamous (monk Grigorios

Date and Place of Birth: Aug. 16th, 1966. Amman,

Nationality: Greek and Lebanese. 

Education: BA in English literature with honours degree –
Yarmouk University, Jordan. Web design course of
40 hours at Ottawa Cultural Centre, Jordan. Several foreign languages courses
at institutes and cultural centres in Jordan, Greece and the Ukraine. 

Art Education: Two weeks drawing and free sketch seminar
with a Japanese teacher in Amman, Jordan in 1991. Intensive iconography and
icon restoration seminars on Mt. Athos, Greece by monks and other lay experts. Since
2003 every year for two months an intensive mosaic seminar by mosaicist
Magdalene Theocharis, Athens – Greece. Two months intensive drawing and
painting regular lessons at Liceo Artistico De Nittis in Bari - Italy in 2007. Two
intensive and advanced mosaic seminars and two beginners and advanced affresco
seminars at the International School for the Study of Mosaics (S.I.S.A.M)
Ravenna, Italy for the period between Aug. 25th – Sept. 19th,
2008. Restoration of floor mosaics seminar for a month (July 4th
August 4th 2009) at the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and
Restoration, Madaba, Jordan. The
Technique and Technology of Icon-Painting Workshop (1st – 8th
August,2011) under the guidance of the icon-painter Radoslav Hristov at
Monastery St, Catherine, Sinai, Egypt.

Employment: Translator and secretary for a private Jordanian
company. For the last fourteen years I have been living as a monk at St.
Catherine’s Monastery on Mt. Sinai.

Exhibitions: Participated in numerous international group exhibitions and competitions in Italy, Greece, Austria, Russia, the Ukraine, Monaco.

Awards: Honorable mention in decorative arts for my
decorative mosaics by Parnassos Philological Society in Athens, 2009. Special
Award of the Jury of  Premio
Internazionale D’Arte Perla Dell’Adriatico Grottammare III Edition 9th
– 23rd May, 2009 organized by La Tavolozza Centre of Art and Culture
and the Municipality of Grottammare of Ascoli Piceno, Italy.

“Premio di Rappresentanza della Provincia di Ascoli Piceno”
(Award of Representation of Ascoli Piceno Province” in the art
competition-exhibition Premio Citta di Porto Sant’ Elpidio, X edition 13th
– 27th  June, 2009 organized
by La Tavolozza Centre of Art and Culture and the Municipality of Porto
Sant’Elpidio (Ascoli Piceno), Italy. Award in mosaic art by Parnassos
Philological Society in Athens, Greece 2010. Award in iconography  by the
Association of Plastic Artists of Northern Greece (SKETBE), Thessaloniki,
Greece 2011. 

Publications: A chap book of poems with the title Vandalic
published by the Plowman, Canada.

Teaching: Mosaic technique lessons for the students of Liceo
Artistico De Nittis, Bari - Italy for two months.
