Quick access :
I live in the 15th in Paris. My apartment is my place to live and my studio. The exhibition of my paintings is permanent.
My name is Anne Prigent-Garnier. My artist name -Lilavati- comes from South India: indeed, I was born in Pondicherry, where Mother (Sri Aurobindo Ashram) gave me that name when I was born. It means "the door open to what is in the arts."
Colorist at heart, I started with gouache. I liked to mix colors and get "the" color I wanted exactly the one I shall pass on a white cardboard, a perfectly smooth color. It took me a long time and patience to succeed in the united perfect violet, purple or garnet ...
I participated in the exhibitions of painters student doctors in the Latin Quarter.
Then, one day, my plate of gouache had dried, with the brush in it. Need of new energy, another form of creation ... I searched for a rather long time!
One day, I was given a catalog. This catalog was magical for me. It made me want to re-play with shapes and colors. I started to cut, assemble the pieces, composing, recomposing and pasting at last. I thought "this is what I want to do ....".
When I do it all, I do not think of anything else. It's like a meditation. For the mind rests and the body too. It's a real therapy, which goes to continuing as the tables of all these colors and shapes selected cultivate joy and lead to the desire to find myself in front of a blank canvas to start another journey.
