René Strubel was born in Alsace in 1943.
When he was six years old, he was fascinated by the ex-votoes in his village chapel carried out by the peasants.
At the age of seventeen, in violent rebellion, he set off for Paris and he mets Miguel Angel Asturias, Jean Genet, Jean Vautier, Mohamed Kahir Eddine, Francis Bacon and Louis Calaferte, Fernando Arrabal who were great explorers of life.
Many TV programs abroad and in France where devoted to him.
He has exhibited in the USA, in Italy and in Belgium a richly textured, violent and haunted work and serenely goes his way as a creative artist in an industrial wasteland in Aubervilliers.

« Hence Strubel’s importance. His work is fashioned from a mythical  and harsh language, that of the dark genealogy of the myths’ founders, and they lead to a violently contemporary representation.
And still :
“ He brews up within himself, old-time pulsions and prophetic spasms. It suffices, so that modernity, having passed through his hands, is no longer the justification for every passing fad.”

Marcel Moreau
