Rosa Murillo - Enter the gallery

My formal education is in architecture, I love it because of the freedom of art, composition and design it offers. I am also intrigued by painting and collage, and the freedom I have to create worlds that are not controlled by the laws of physics and science, which don’t have to make sense all the time, or follow any rules.
I love paper and its texture, color and smell. Old paper in particular has lots of charm; old letters let you enter a world that you were not supposed to come into.
I’ve been collecting bits and pieces of interesting paper and other printed materials like money bills and stamps, mainly because of their design and history; and then realised they needed a new format to tell their story and, combining them with other elements, achieve a new meaning.

My experience with architecture and painting, and my interest for printed objects, offer as a result these pieces of collages and acrylics that are a combination of the stories that I try to tell. Giving them, at the same time, the liberty they need.
