The painter Evelyne was born from a German father and a Turkish-Algerian mother in Algeria on 19 July 1976. She has been profoundly marked by her double identity and her nomadic life, producing a synthesis of the oppositions of orient and occident in her work : colours both warm and cold, lines both geometric and flowing, explicit and implied themes, logic and disorder...
Evelyne has shown a particular talent for the arts since childhood. She began playing the piano at the age of four... 25 years later, her Academic training completed, she still caresses the piano keys pretty much every day, and will never tire of Bach and Grieg.
She first fell in love with painting while watching her mother paint for hours in the family kitchen. She began sketching at her mother's side, moved on to watercolours, and finally decided upon oils and large canvases. Despite her growing passion for painting, she decided to enrol in journalism school and earn a qualification in French as a foreign language. But her studies never took her far from painting for a significant amount of time. Evelyne picked up her brushes again seriously in 2000, and stayed up all night blending colours and painting her favourite motifs on a large scale : flowers, landscapes, emotions...and so on.
As a self-educated artist, Evelyne breaks the conventional art school mould. She makes intuitive art, filled with spontaneity, dynamism and originality.
