 Born in Sardinia 80 years ago, Eros Kara lived and worked in Milan, Roma, Parma & Naples.
In 2004, he settled ln the 1th district of Paris, xhere he opened with his wife Dominique an artist’s “Atelier” called “ Atelier des Arts”. After a brief return to Sardinia, he returned in 2008 to settle permanently in the French capital.
To date Eros has 196 personal exhibitions which took place in Italy, the United States (Cultural Centre Museum of New York), Brasil (Parque Ibyzapuera in San Paolo), Belgium (Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels), France (Nice, Strasbourg, Le Mans, Lunéville, La Flèche…).
The written press and television dedicated a lot of articles about Eros with positive critics.
Well known aquarellist but also a talented portraitist, he painted numerous people of the politic and ecclesiastic life. The "Quirinal" in Rome exhibits some of his portraits representing different Presidents of the Italian Republic. Mr Bongo, Gabon's president and his wife, the Spanish consul in Paris, some Italian and French deputies like Mr François FILLON called to his talent. The Modern Art Museum of Rome as well as numerous banks and town halls in Italy exhibit or have bought some of his paintings.
A short resume of the most important facts of his career :
- 1948 : the Massimo's theatre of Cagliari called him for the realisation of sketches and scenographies of pieces as "Boris Cristof" and the "Gioconde"
- 1951 : the "20th Century Fox" asked him the realisation of cinematographic posters of films as "La Romaine" with the most famous star "Gina Lollobrigida" or "Sinue the Egyptian"
- 1962 : realisation of a fresco with dimensions of 12m x 5m in the old church of Ste-Catherine in Cagliari
- 1986 : opening of his first art gallery in France, in St-Paul de Vence
And more recently,
- 1991 : the Town hall of Naples St-Giuliano choose him to realise the frescos which decorates the Council's room
- 1991 : the Naples's steelworks commissioned him to realise several mural frescos - 1997 : realisation of a 60-m²-fresco at the town hall of Sanluri (province of Cagliari)
- 1998 : realisation of 12 frescos of 4m x 4m representing the history of Arborea's city (Sardinia)
- 2000 : for the Jubilee, the Vatican ordered commissioned a portrait of 260 Italian popes. Some of them will illustrate the official brochure given to that occasion.
Some distinctions and awards :
- 1961 : 1st Price "Côte d'Emeraude"
- 1997 : 1st Price "Vivi Castello" of Cagliari's city
- 1999 : The city of Sassari attributed him the 1st Price Sardinia - price awarding the Sardinian artist who distinguished the most in the foreign countries. To detail all of the facts and distinctions of Eros Kara's career, would be too long. This short and brief resume has only the purpose to show the extent and the diversity of his works as well as the everlasting interest that his paintings have given all along these years.
