Gisèle Darrieux-Boblin , lives in St Jean Cap Ferrat "presqu'ile de rêve " between Nice and Monaco, since 1959.
Born in Tarbes, she started painting at the age of 12 years with her grand-father, a very talented amateur, who took her with him in the wonderful landscapes of the Pyrénées, and who teached her the love of this Art, she improved her knowledge at the "Ecole du Ministère des PTT" in Paris, where she worked and also at the "Grande Chaumière"where she met other Artists that became well known.
She followed her husband, a civil engineer, to Vietnam, then she lived in Dakar, West-Africa. She came back to Paris after a difficult divorce, took back her function at the PTT, and was transfered to St Jean Cap Ferrat where she since lives with her second husband.
She participated in different shows and expositions where she won gold, silver and bronze medals, then she became the President of the Independent Artists of Nice and Côte d'Azur for 10 years. She had to resign this post due to health problems.
Lateron she created the St Jean of Arts association, organizing each year a wonderful exposition of professional and semi-professional painters that attracts a lot of Artists and visitors from all over the world. She is still the president-creator of this association.
Then she created and managed during 7 years the Municipal Gallery of St Jean des Arts, now closed.
The officers of the US Navy during the time they where stationed in Villefranche /Mer ordered many paintings of this region from her, in order to take back a souvenir of their stay in the "Côte d'Azur" .
Her work can be seen in several countries like: the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Belgium, Vietnam, Peru, Japan, New-Zealand, Australia, etc.
From her Grand-Father, lover of Nature, she kept whatever the tendencies are, a figurative-realist style.
Since 40 years, she continuously exposes her personal work in St Jean Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu/mer, Villefranche/mer, Cap d'Ail and Menton. Especially ocean sceneries, and places from Nice to Menton or places in France where she was on vacation.
