Since marrying I have had a nomadic existence following my husband's job around the country, but have now finally settled back in the West Country. I pursue my art now living and painting in a hamlet on the edge of Dartmoor. My approach to art starts in my garden, the ultimate and most forgiving blank canvas which I rework constantly. In less clement weather I enjoy painting and collage. I experiment with materials and supports and ways of applying paint. I like to extract ideas from nature to the work and at the moment I am fascinated by satellite photographs and geological formations, also metallic media. Later this year I intend to try to capture the wildness of Dartmoor, the tranquility of the Dart valley, the everchanging mood of the Devon coastline and of course all manner of things in the garden." |
