The Meeting between Picasso & Ingres
In Fertile Ground & In Open Air
En Pleine Terre
Mieke van Ingen (born 1962, Delft, the Netherlands) studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague. She lives and works in the South of France as a painter and a printmaker with a special interest in the cross over between the two disciplines.
Using motifs extracted from vegetable life, water and clouds, Van Ingen incorporates these forms in her drawings, paintings and etchings with a painterly fluidity. It seems that Van Ingen's work brings together both ends, modern and traditional, abstract and figurative, graphical and painterly. There is no restriction by borders, perspective and depth. And nevertheless, through the use of color and contrast, a fictitious space is created, which is enough to withdraw the viewer, away of the three dimensions of daily life.
Mieke van Ingen's work is in several private and public collections in different countries, like the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, England and the USA.
