42 year old Jean-Paul Charles has been working for several years to elaborate a visionary work halfway between Surrealism and Fantasy Art.
His enigmatic landscapes present a universe where dreams and reality merge in a disquieting and cruel osmosis. The use of collage in many canvases accentuates the confusion inherent in these works.
For him, imagination does not exist because, as he likes to say: “To be an artist is to remember”.
His current work consists of enlarging the infinitesimal to find the archetype that governs all later shape.
