I discovered wood carving by chance about 15 years ago by using a gouge of my grand father, warned handyman. I realized a marguerite on a pine's broad. So nothing extraordinary, but I liked immediatly the wood work : concentration, precision, expression, creativity... It is naturally imposed on me.
During many years, I "tapped" some wood, without any technique nor training on the subject and with (I have to recognize) disappointing results, because of missing structured learning and professional advises.
Four years ago, by chance (and a little bit of perseverance) I entered in contact with an association of wood carving lovers of beautiful pieces... And since then, I learn !
Thanks to this association, I can indeed follow one-two afternoon a month courses of wood sculpture distributed by Jean Bernard SUSPERREGUI.
They allow me to match my professional life (I work in Human Resources) my private life (I'm married and have 2 little children) and wood carving. I can structure my work, exchange ideas and go ahead !
Ideas come like that : during a meeting or a discussion, by watching television or by going through a book. On the basis of ideas sketched on paper, I try then to shape, in the most faithful possible way, an arabesque, a human body...Often the wood reminds me that you should not try to make everthing for every price and that it is necessary to know how to adapt yourself. A real school of humility...
Now you can judge...
