Bénédicte Gelé is what we can call a horse fan. When she was very
young, she acted like them, walking more on all fours than walking
upright, causing great despair to her family. She was only 15
years old when she first mounted a horse by chance after winning a ride
on a horse.
After obtaining an art baccalauréat, Bénédicte Gelé
prepared a visual communication HNC in order to become a graphic
designer. During her studies, she sometimes drew horses with pastels but due to lack of time, did not pursue this subject.
Once Bénédicte got her diploma, she became an artistic graphic designer
then an artistic director in an Internet company. During her
spare time, she spontaneously embarked in the art of landscape
painting. She painted nautical scenes with a palette knife in contrast
to her desire to paint in detail. This approach enabled her to go into
the essence and refine her subject. She then returned gradually to the
theme of horses and drew portraits of them for friends.
many ideas in her head, and so many landscapes to be painted, so many
horses to be drawn, and she wanted to test several techniques, but
wasted time on deciding and finally didn’t know what to paint.
Eventually, during a discussion, she discovered what seemed so clear; she decided to devote herself to horses.
