I was born in 1957 in the city of St. Petersburg and from a very young age was attracted to art and music. At secondary school I soon discovered an appreciation of painting nature and used to practice during my summer vacations. My papa had a small summer cottage in the picturesque region of Pskov. It was there that I fully discovered my adoration for the Russian countryside and its wild, enchanting beauty.
In 1972 I went on to develop my talent at the Art-graphics College of St. Petersburg and, as one of the most successful students during my time there, it was recommended that I continue my studies at the world-renowned Academy of Arts. At the Academy, I learned oil and acrylic painting techniques as well as sculpture, and gained the essential foundation for my future career. After completing my studies I worked at the Academy as a teacher and as a model.
Following my time at the Academy I worked with stained glass and painting at Mukhinsky College. In my early years there I was invited to participate in a number of large exhibitions at, among other favourite venues, the Small Manege, the Central Exhibition Hall Manege, both in St. Petersburg, and at the VDNKh in Moscow.
Since childhood I have been a devout Christian and this devotion eventually brought me to the Pskovo-Pechiorsky Monastry, where I stayed between 1986 and 1995. There I acquired the skills of icon and fresco painting.
At the time Russia was going though a Christian reincarnation stage and, after leaving the monastery, I continued to specialise in altar and fresco restoration work. A few of the religious sites where I spent time working in restoration between 1992 and 2010 were: Pskovo-Pechiorky Monastry, Pechora; Novonyanisky monastery, Moldova; Fedorovsky cathedral, Pushkin, Leningrad region; Vsevolozhsky reliquary of the Princes, Vsevolozhsk and finally Aleksandro-Nevskaya lavra, St. Petersburg.
Over the years, however, I have not forgotten my earliest passion in art, and I continue to specialise in painting lyrical landscapes. My works have been sold through various galleries in Russia and the UK as well as directly to the various private collectors.
